The Lagos state police command has arrested a 21-year-old girl, Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu, in connection with the murder of Super TV's Chief Executive Officer, Michael Usifo Ataga. Chidinma, a 300 level mass communication student of the University of Lagos, narrated how she stabbed Ataga while speaking to journalists. Ojukwu revealed that she had a romantic affair with the victim four months before the incident happened at an apartment in Lekki.

Seemingly remorseful about her alleged actions, she explained that Ataga tried to make sexual advances towards her after complaining of how he "didn't like the first one [sex]". She said she initially refused because she was tired. However, he "became violent", and she "let him have his way". In addition, the UNILAG student said the deceased tried to make sexual advances for the second time, but this time, she declined again because he did not assist her with money. Chidinma, who hails from Abia state, said, "he became violent and at some point, he hit my head on the wall, and I also retaliated". She accused Ataga of choking her on the kitchen cabinet while she tried to defend herself. "I took out a knife and stabbed him on the neck", Chidinma said, adding, "he became weak and fell on the floor" during the violent scuffle.

The 21-year-old revealed that she withdrew up to 380,000 Naira from his account before it was blocked by the police. Ataga, who would have turned 50 years old on June 18th, was declared missing on June 13th, and efforts to reach him proved abortive. He was later found lying lifeless with multiple injuries at an Airbnb apartment in Lagos.
