Bandits kidnap students from Kaduna school

Bandits have kidnapped an unspecified number of students from Bethel Baptist School located at Maraban Rido area in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The school, which is located along Kaduna-Kachia road, was attacked by bandits on Monday morning. They shot sporadically into the air before kidnapping unknown numbers of students. Only four of the school’s students managed to escape the gruesome act. Security operatives are now on the scene and are currently investigating the matter.

The general public is waiting for more information on the whereabouts of the kidnapped students.

Not too long, Chikun Local Government Area, where the school is located, fell under bandits attack alongside two other Local Government Areas; Kajura and Giwa LGAs. In the separate attacks carried out across the three Local Government Areas, at least seven people were killed, and ten others were kidnapped.

Four of the victims were from Chikun LGA; they were kidnapped and shot to death at the Tsohon Gayan community. The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, commented on the attacks.

He said, “We have lost about seven citizens. Four of the many kidnapped citizens in Chikun Local Government were shot dead yesterday, and one other person was killed in the Galadima General Area of Giwa Local Government.”

In combating the nuisance, the Governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai, has promised not to negotiate with the bandits or pay any ransom. Even so, it was reported that the Governor had earlier withdrawn his son from the public school he enrolled at. According to him, his son was constantly targeted by terrorists.
