Burna Boy shaded an upcoming American rapper, Bia, after she denied knowing what he looks like.
"That's unfortunate", Nicki said in response, admitting that she should have had a prep time with the upcoming act before going live. Bia's statement sparked outrage among Nigerians, many of whom visited her social media pages with all manner of criticisms.
Although she later apologized, Nigerian Tweeps berated her even more after screenshots from 2018 showed her comments on the African Giant's Instagram posts. In a not-so-expected move, Burna Boy rebuked the upcoming rapper on Twitter, saying she has been in "my DMs since 2018".
The Port Harcourt-born musician's tweets came after his righthand man, King Manny, made a subtle mockery of the rapper's stage name by comparing it to "Bia", an Igbo word for "come". Manny declared that not knowing some who recently won a Grammy award is impossible.
BIA came into the limelight, having featured in the Oxygen reality television show, Sisterhood of Hip Hop. She has since released two EPs, one in 2018 and the other in 2020. The latter featured guests performances from Lil Durk, Lil Jon, Doe Boy, and 42 Dugg.
