"Essence" by Wizkid is the first song in the history of Nigeria to ever chart on the music industry's standard & global record chart, the "Billboard Hot 100" and the "Billboard Global 200". The original hit song features Nigerian singer "Tems", while the remix had an additional feature of Canadian singer and songwriter "Justin Bieber", which was released on the 13th of August, 2021. Essence, which has been described by many as the "Song of the summer", is an R&B/Soul genre of music.
American rapper Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, professionally known as "DaBaby", decides to jump on the hit song with a freestyle.
Hours before the freestyle, accompanied with a video, was released, DaBaby asked his fans on his official Instagram account what they wanted him to drop next. In his exact words, "WHAT Y'ALL WANT NEXT? 👀 "ESSENCE" or "WOCKESHA"?? 🔥🤔 Y'all call the game we gone run it 🏃", he wrote.
On his "Essence" freestyle, DaBaby reminds those trying to put him down that he doesn't feel constrained by these issues, and he's self-guaranteed that he will continue on his path of success.
"I don't want your flowers ni**a, I got mine/ I own a nine-acre estate and a fuckin' mansion, nigga, I'm cool at home/ I don't want your bitch, my nigga, I'm cool with mines/ She got that surgery tryna turn herself to a quarter, but I'm cool with dimes/ I don't wanna be like y'all ni**as, I'm cool with me/ I knew I was that ni**a before I had all these millions, cars and jewellery/ These ni**as ain't foolin' me/ It ain't no fuckin' way they stand on ten toes and never fold ni**a if you was me/ And I stand on that ni**a" DaBaby raps in his freestyle.
