The eNaira App has been deleted from Google Play Store, following series of condemnations and poor ratings

The newly introduced eNaira Wallet app is unavailable on the Google Play Store barely 48 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari launched it, HotNaija observes.

Since the CBN-controlled digital wallet became available for individual use just days ago, the app recorded over 100k downloads from the Google Play Store alone.

Although the app is still readily accessible for use on the App Store as of writing this story, it boasts a poor record of 2.6 over 5 ratings. The app was recently updated to suit its Apple users, and hopefully, the same is done for Android users.

However, the second version of the app – the eNaira merchant app (specifically designed for business) is still available on the Play Store for use.

Apparently, after many Nigerians complained about glitches and malfunctions of the app, it was removed from the Google Play Store without any notice. It remains unclear if the takedown was done by Google or CBN. HotNaija has reached out to Google for comments.
