2021 keeps witnessing wonders, as Nigerian artists have been dropping banging and record-breaking hits ever since the pandemic subsided earlier this year. New names and genres have also been gaining attention in Nigeria and the African continent at large. Names like Ayra Starr and CKay have made a name for themselves this year in the music industry with their incredible singing style and talent. CKay even made it as far as charting on the Billboard Hot 100 just days ago for his smash hit song "Love Nwantiti".

10). Fountains — Drake feat. Tems


Canadian superstar (singer and rapper) Drake teams up with Nigeria's melodious and talented female singer Tems to deliver an Afrobeat, R&B, and rap track titled "Fountains." This amazing hit jam is off Drake's 2021 studio album "Certified Lover Boy." "Fountains" take the position of number 16 off the 21 tracklist album. This album also features other music legends and superstars from around the world.

Ever since Tems was spotted with Drake, there have been speculations that they would drop a song together. Fans have been anticipating the song release, knowing Tems would deliver just well, as she did on Wizkid's "Essence," which broke multiple chart records and was ruling the world's summer playlist for a while. And she did just that, as "Fountains" have been gaining millions of streams globally since its release.

9). Peru — Fireboy DML


YBNL signee Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML, is still on this month's top 10 songs (although fell 3-9), as his catchy tune dubbed "Peru" becomes the artist's highest-charting song. 

8). Faster — L.A.X


UK-born Nigerian recording artist and performer Damilola Abdul-Rasak Afolabi, known on stage as L.A.X, comes through with yet another hit single, "Faster", following his last banging track 'Money', which he dropped just late last month (September).

L.A.X is a former Starboy Entertainment signee before starting his record label "Rasaki Music Group – RMG" years after leaving Wizkid's Starboy records. He is into Afrobeats, Fuji, Reggae, and Afro-pop genres of music. His newly released track would leave you in a relaxed mood due to its incredible banging tunes.

7). Want It All — Burna Boy feat. Polo G

Ever since Burna Boy dropped a snippet of his new song with Polo G, fans have been anxiously waiting to hear what the full sound would be. Upon the full release, the Grammy award-winning singer, rapper, and songwriter have been getting positive remarks for his refreshing new jam with Chicago rapper Polo G.

The highly-anticipated song's music video was shot in Los Angeles, USA. Like Wizkid and some other contemporary artists, Burna Boy has mastered the art of capturing people's hearts with his redefining tune. Little wonder why he won the "Best Global Music Album" for his Twice As Tall album at the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards (2020).

6). Dangerous — Cheque feat. Ayra Starr

Cheque is a singer and rapper who goes by the real name Akanbi Bamidele. He hails from Ondo state and gained attention with his 2020 hit single 'Zoom'. The Penthauze record signee Cheque drops a classic track off his new project, "Bravo", with numerous guest artists and 13 tracklists.

He features Mavins singer Ayra Starr the 'celestial being' on this fantastic jam, and as you already know, every Ayra Starr song makes waves and eventually becomes everyone's favourite. "Dangerous" is his 2nd top track from his 3rd studio album to be released.

5). Love Nwantiti (Remix) — CKay feat. DJ Yo & AX'EL


Since CKay debuted in 2019, the Chocolate city singer and songwriter has been releasing futuristic guitar-laden jams to the world by merging Afrobeats with a touch of Pop and psychedelic ambience. He has won the hearts of many with his creative and unique sound.

Recall that CKay's previous "Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah) Remix", which he released in 2020 featuring guest artists such as Joeboy and Ghanian singer Kuami Eugene, charted on many music charts and streaming platforms all around the world in early 2020. It also appeared in the Canadian Hot 100 and the US Billboard Hot 100 while also topping Switzerland's official music chart as number one.

4). Monalisa  — Lojay & Sarz

If you've been listening to music all through September, this shouldn't come as a surprise to you. Since the Monalisa video was released, Lojay and Sarz debuted among the Top 5 Nigerian Songs for October. In less than 6 months, the song has landed Lojay and Sarz 2 Afrimma nominations, and hopefully, it's the first of many to come.
This incredible hit is off Lojay and Sarz's collaborative EP "LV N ATTN", with only Wizkid as the guest artist.

3). Bloody Samaritan — Ayra Starr

Mavins Records female signee Ayra Starr has grown a massive fans base ever since her smashing hit single "Bloody Samaritan" reached the people's ears. The track is a melodious hit single off her debut studio album "19 & Dangerous", a follow-up to her "Ayra Starr" EP. Both studio projects showcase her amazing singing ability and vocal prodigy.

"Bloody Samaritan" is a song with the significance of avoiding bad energy and growing to new hearts. The song has since made Ayra Starr the second most-streamed Nigerian female artist since its release. The song was produced by 'London' and directed by Ayra Starr herself.

2). High — Adekunle Gold feat. Davido


Nigerian Pop King Adekunle Gold features legendary Afrobeat artist Davido to release an incredible vibe jam that would make all good music lovers move their feet to the song's rhythm. The upbeat tune takes all worries away. It is a song that details the amazing lifestyle they live, most importantly, when they're "High."

It is reported that "High" is part of Adekunle Gold's forthcoming studio project to be released before the end of the year. For the first time, AG Baby adapts the popular Amapiano genre for his song 'High', with Davido adding impressive verses to garnish it. The video was directed by Pheelz.

1). Alcohol — Joeboy


emPawa Africa's finest singer and songwriter Joeboy thrills his fans with a newly released single titled 'Alcohol'. Since the success of his debut studio album "Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic", he has become the first Nigerian artist to surpass 100 million streams on Audiomack.

Fact: He didn't feature any artist on the 14-track album, which he released in February 2021.

He has since become a sensation and one of the most promising acts in the global music industry. Since the 'Alcohol' release, fans have been vibing to it back to back, and the number of streams has been incredibly increasing.
