13-year-old girl commits suicide over poor exam results

A 13-year-old Ugandan girl has committed suicide over failure to pass Primary Leaving  Examination (PLE).

The deceased, Daphine Nakimuli, is a resident of Kinuubi East, Bwikya Ward, in Uganda.

In the recently released Ugandan PLE exams, Daphine reportedly scored 28 as an aggregate in all four subjects. This prompted her parents to scold her for "wasting their money".

Nakimuli, who hanged herself on a tree, left an emotional message describing how unloved she was by her parents, friends, and siblings.

Part of the letter read, "I'll kill myself because I'm tired of people. Why am I seeing many people as my enemy?

"I can't stay alive with this many enemies. My enemies include my sisters, brothers, nephews, cousins, niece, uncles, aunts."

"Madam Jessica is my worst enemy. This is why I want to kill myself."

She further went on to decide how her properties should be shared when she's gone:

"My money that's with Shimanah should be returned to my parents, and my things should be shared by my sister only."

Closing the letter, she declared that Madam Jessica will not live long.

She added, "You, Madam Jessica, will not live for many years. You'll get to see if you're God. You're escorting me."

Allan Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, said the police have launched an investigation into the case.
