The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) rescued four victims of human trafficking in Jigawa state.
The agency said it rescued four girls on their way to Tripoli, Libya, at the Jigawa/Katsina border.
NIS Comptroller, Mr Isma’il Abba, told the press that the victims, whose names he did not mention, were rescued at Gurai village in Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Abba stated that the four females, ages 16 to 33, were all from Southern states, including Lagos, Osun, Akwa Ibom, and Ogun state.
Although Mr Abba did not mention if the kidnappers were arrested, he assured the public that a suspected collaborator with the perpetrators was arrested by NIS personnel operating on the Kazaure-Babura-Ringim axis of Babura.
According to the comptroller, the victims would be handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation.
There have been other reports of kidnapping taking place at Babura, a village in Jigawa that shares a border with Baure Local Government Area of Katsina State.
