How to use Twitter Without VPN On MTN, Glo, Airtel & 9mobile

If you are like any of us, you probably clicked on this article because you can not use Twitter in Nigeria after the government restricted access to the platform. According to Guardian Nigeria, telecommunication companies like MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9mobile, acting under a directive from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), blocked access to Twitter late Friday. So, without further ado, here are the steps you need to follow to access Twitter with and without a VPN.

1. Download a VPN

The acronym “VPN” stands for “Virtual Private Network.” It works by hiding your IP address to establish a secure connection while you surf the internet. Below is a list of free VPNs you can download from your phone’s application store. This list is by no means exhaustive, so there might be other free VPNs out there.
  • Psiphon Pro
  • NordVPN.
  • ExpressVPN.
  • IPVanish.
  • ProtonVPN.
  • TunnelBear.
  • Hola Privacy VPN.
  • Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection.
  • CyberGhost.
  • Windscribe
  • USA VPN
  • Nord
  • PIA
  • IPvanish
  • Hotspot Shield VPN & Proxy
  • Hideman VPN
  • Unlimited Free VPN – betternet
  • SurfEasy VPN for Android
  • Hola Free
2. Authorize the VPN

If you are on an Android, go to settings. Next, click on “Network & Internet,” then “Advanced,” and then “VPN.” Finally, tap the VPN name (you should see the VPN you downloaded). If you are on an iPhone: go to settings, tap on “General,” and then “VPN.” You should immediately see the VPN you downloaded. Finally, toggle on “status” at the top.

3. Select preferred location from your VPN app

Now head back to the VPN, select any location of your choice, and Voilà!, you are ready to use Twitter again. Alternatively, you can install opera browser for PC and turn on the VPN icon.

How to use Twitter without VPN:

According to this Twitter user, you can use the platform without a VPN. Here's how:

1. Go to your Twitter settings, click on "Proxy", check the "Enable HTTP PROXY" box.
2. Paste the IP address "104.192.202.11" in the proxy host section and "8080" in the port section.
After doing that, close your Twitter and reopen. Note that this method has not been proven safe and you should only use it if you absolutely have to. For now, a VPN is the safest option.
