After a tense battle between England and Italy at the Euro 2020 final, Italy emerged as the winner of the Euro 2020 competition.
Manchester United player, Luke Shaw, took advantage of Kieran Trippier’s cross and gave the Three Lions an early lead just two minutes into the game.
However, the joy was cut short as Italy's Leonardo Bonucci equalized the goal in the 67th minute with a shot from close range. Ever since then, the ball refused to cross the goal-line of either goalpost. As a result, the match was dragged into the extra time, which lasted another 30 minutes.
The extra 30 minutes was no different as no single goal was scored. Both teams had to proceed to a penalty shootout from which Italy emerged as the competition winner.
The penalty shootout featured many failed shots as Andrea Belotti (Italy), Marcus Rashford (England), Sancho Jadon (England), Jorginho (Italy), and Bukayo Saka (England) all missed theirs.
But luck seems to be on the former Manchester City boss, Roberto Mancini's side, as they won the game by 3:2. Therefore, making them the new Champions of Europe.
This also marks Italy's first final win in the competition since their match against Yugoslavia in 1968.
This will undoubtedly lead to an outburst of celebration across the streets of Rome.
Meanwhile, Christian Ronaldo won the golden boot of the competition with a total of 5 goals. Harry Kane, who was close with 4 goals, failed to topple the Juventus star from his position.
