President Buhari sympathizes with the family of Sound Sultan

President Muhammadu Buhari relayed condolences message to the family of Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan.

Through a statement by the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Femi Adesina, President Buhari described the late singer's death as a loss to the Nigerian music industry and the country at large. 

Furthermore, the President described the deceased as a man of incredible talent and creativity who has lived a life worthy of emulation.

"As a celebrated rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, he lived an exemplary life, achieved several milestones in his career, and contributed greatly to the development of the Nigerian music and entertainment industry through his artistic genius, creativity, and talent, which has inspired many young Nigerians in the industry", the statement read in part.

President also noted that the late Sound Sultan has significantly contributed to the advancement of Basketball in Nigeria. He was described by the President as an avid basketball fan. The President prays that his family finds divine peace and comfort.

The late artist lost his life after a hard struggle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL), a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

His death was confirmed through a signed statement by his relative, Kayode Fasasi, on Sunday 11th July. 

The late singer may have hinted at his ailment in an old social media post. Even so, the state of his illness was kept away from the public until the sad news of his passing away.
