These Top Nigerian albums have made it to Billboard 200

To the delight of music lovers, here are the top 7 Nigerian artists who have appeared on the Billboard 200 chart.

Davido - A Better Time was released in 2020 under Columbia Records/Sony Music.

Sunny Ade - Juju Music, released in 1982 under Mango/Island Records.

Interestingly, this album was described by The New York Times as the week's best new dance music.

WIzkid - Sounds From The Other Side, released in 2017 under the label Starboy/RCA UK.

Burna Boy's African Giant was released in 2019 under Spaceship/Bad Habit/Atlantic/Warner.

This Grammy-nominated album enjoyed a fantastic reception following the equally applauded album, Outside.

Produced by Mango/Island Records, King Sunny Ade's Syncro System, released in 1983, also made it to the chart.

We have, once again, Burna Boy's Twice As Tall produced under the Label Spaceship/Bad Habit/Atlantic/Warner in 2020.

In the first week of its release, Twice As Tall became the first Nigerian album to have 1million pure YouTube streams from Nigeria alone.

Finally, Wizkid's Made In Lagos released under RCA/SONY in 2020, has stayed on the Billboard charts for more than 10 weeks, thanks to Starboy's summer hit, Essence featuring Tems. As of writing this article, the album's position is at number 28, making it the highest-peaking Nigerian album on the Billboard 200. Its deluxe version dropped in August 2021 with new songs featuring Buju and Bella Shmurda.

The popular 'Made In Lagos' album has also become Nigeria's highest-charting album on the Billboard 200, surpassing Burna Boy's Twice As Tall. It is worthy of note that Asa's 2007 debut album, Asa (Asha), graced the Billboard Heatseeker Chart.
