American rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, and businessman has revealed his new legal name – Ye – to the world.
On Monday, October 18, a Los Angeles judge approved a petition filed by Kanye West (formerly known) to change his name to simply 'Ye' without including a surname or middle name.
Mitchelle Williams of the Los Angeles Superior Court approved the name since the rapper filed a petition two months ago, August 24, 2021. This means that the 44-year-old rapper no longer has a middle or last name attached to him.
When asked why he chose to file paperwork in approval for a new legal name, Kanye stated that he was making the change for personal reasons.
Recall that his newly adopted legal name is the title of his 8th studio, which was released in June 2018. Many speculate he changed his name just so he could be referred to as a god, while others believe it's just to gain media attention since he's not been in the spotlight for a while.
Although Ye might have had a name conversion, his wife and kids still bear his widely known surname – West.
